From Dyane Guest:

Hello Fellow YMCA members,

My name is Dyane Guest and I have multiple sclerosis/ cerebral atrophy. I am a 36 year old woman , mother of two who was diagnosed at the age of 26.

For a long time I had given up on myself, not concerning myself with fitness at all. I gave myself to the Lord and decided to handle my situation as positive as I could. The situation had changed in my eyes so I had some physical things i needed to deal with. That led me to the YMCA.

The disease that I have affects your muscle coordination. It took me awhile to get where I desired to be , but I'm making progress EVERY SINGLE DAY! When I first started I couldn't even run on the treadmill, it took all I had to walk for 30 minutes. Now I'm running and weight lifting! Thanks to the Y I have my confidence and my stability back!

There is no telling where I would be if the Y was not around for me to join. Not only have I made friends here but this place has given me hope as well. There is no cure for this but with a place to exercise I'll be able to have better control of my symptoms.

So my thanks to the YMCA.

Thanks Dyane!

Natalie Foust says:

I made a great decision when I joined the Milan Family YMCA on January 1, 1997. The Y was in its start-up days then, but it has continued to grow and expand into a big community asset and is a blessing to me and my family.

Why do I believe that being a part of the Y is so valuable?

FOR OUR COMMUNITY:

It is OUR Y, owned by the citizens of this area. it is non-profit and is operated under the guidelines of a board of local volunteers.

It is an asset to this area when our leaders are seeking industry and business location here. Few communities of our size can offer the level of services provided by OUR Y.

Everyone is welcome at the Y. Services are provided that can be used by all ages.

The Y is a Christian organization welcoming people of all faiths.

FOR ME AND MY FAMILY:

My three-generation family has enjoyed the fitness center, exercise classes, after-school childcare, team sports, and other events during the past 12 years.

The greatest blessings have been the friendships made and the family atmosphere that is always there for us.

Thank you Natalie!
